FAQS

What Is Intuitive Reiki?

Intuitive Reiki is a multidimensional healing technique channeled and guided by spirit, developed and continuously refined by me over years of experience. This technique goes beyond traditional Reiki symbols and modalities, incorporating additional methods and energy downloads I’ve received over time. By healing the past, we can create transformative changes in the present and future.

Each session is uniquely customized, with guidance from spirit that is specific to your individual needs. During the session, I’ll periodically share insights, describing what I’m seeing and feeling, and passing along messages or energy. After completion, you’ll receive an energy orb placed in your field, allowing healing to continue long after our session ends.

Intuitive Reiki can be done on adults, children, and pets, providing profound, lasting healing that works across time and dimensions.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique designed to promote deep relaxation and activate the body’s natural self-healing abilities, balancing the mind, body, and spirit. The word “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese terms: “Rei,” meaning “God’s Wisdom” or “Higher Power,” and “Ki,” which refers to “life force energy,” also known as “chi” or “prana.” Reiki works by channeling this energy to where it is most needed, helping to restore balance and harmony.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive, and highly effective healing method that can never cause harm. It is recognized for its ability to address a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional ailments, promoting overall wellness and vitality. Whether you’re seeking relief from stress, pain, or emotional blockages, Reiki offers a safe, natural way to support your healing journey.

History of Reiki?

The origins of Reiki are surrounded by various stories and interpretations, but it is generally believed to be over 2,500 years old. The modern form of Reiki that we know today was popularized by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk who went on a spiritual journey to Mount Kurama in Japan. During a 21-day period of fasting and meditation, Dr. Usui received the knowledge of Reiki, and upon his return, he began using this healing technique to treat others and teach a select group of students.

One of Dr. Usui’s students, Mrs. Hawayo Takata, played a pivotal role in bringing Reiki to the West. She traveled to the United States in 1937, where she began offering Reiki treatments and training, helping to spread the practice across the country. Interestingly, Mrs. Takata presented Dr. Usui as a Christian monk and claimed that he performed miracles on his journey down Mount Kurama—this was a narrative she used to make Reiki more appealing to the Western audience at the time.

Today, Reiki has evolved into numerous branches, with over 25 different styles practiced worldwide. However, the traditional Usui Reiki system remains at the heart of many Reiki practices, continuing to offer healing and balance to people all around the globe.

Reiki Principles

Dr. Usui created a daily affirmation for all known as The Reiki Principles. It goes like this:

The secret method of inviting blessings, the spiritual medicine of many illnesses:
Just for today:
Do not anger
Do not worry
Receive gratefully
Work honestly
Be kind to all.

Other Rules of Reiki

1. You can do no harm.

This means if you are receiving reiki or giving a treatment, reiki can’t harm either person. That is because the “chi” energy the used in reiki is pure love.

2. A practitioner can never heal someone, they only assist in your healing.

This means that as a receiver, you must want to help and heal yourself. Your Reiki practitioner can only assist in your healing, they themselves cannot heal you. If any practitioner claims they can “heal” you or “fix you”, run away!

3. Reiki is not a religion

Reiki is spiritual in nature but there is nothing you must believe in order to use reiki. I have met many people of all different type of religions use reiki to better themselves and their lives.

How does Reiki Work?

A practitioner will connect with the universal life force energy that is always around us. This energy is channeled (or drawn in) through the crown chakra and out both the practitioners hands to the receiver. The receiver’s body and biofield (medical term for the energy field that surrounds your body) will know what to do with the energy and it will go wherever the receiver needs it. The practitioner can also send the energy directly into the areas the receiver needs. For example, if the receiver is complaining of headaches, the practitioner can send the energy directly into the head.

How to Tell if You Need a Reiki Session

Some clients are just intuitively drawn to get a reiki session. If you are not one of those people, here are a few ways to tell if you need a session.

  • You like alternative and holistic healing techniques
  • You enjoy energy healing treatments like acupuncture, polarity therapy ETC and want to try something new
  • You want to balance your chakras and energy field
  • Feeling low, unconfident and very fatigued
  • Stressful job
  • Stressful life event or change
  • Feeling you can’t catch a break
  • Need a vacation but don’t have the time
  • If you are ill or have a disease that you are struggling to treat
  • If you have an illness or disease and want assistance on getting better soon
  • Tried other types of pain management but you’re still in pain
How is a Reiki Session Given?

The person receiving the Reiki is completely clothed and either laying down or sitting in a chair. The Reiki practitioner hands are placed a few inches above the receivers and his/her hands will move throughout the session into different positions. The practitioner will also lay their hands upon the receiver. Some reiki practitioners will lay their hand on clients more than others and each practitioner is different. Either way, Reiki can be done without the practitioner touching the receiver. This means Reiki can also be given distantly! The receiver and the practitioner DO NOT have to be in the same room! After the session both the practitioner and the receiver will discuss what they felt during the session.

What makes my Reiki sessions different is that I talk to you periodically throughout the session describing what I am seeing/feeling. I have found throughout my many years of practice that describing what I am seeing/feeling can help my clients release energy and heal quicker and easier. It makes the receiver more part of the process and allows the receiver to dive deeper into hidden emotions or traumas that need to be released. After a session you will receive energy to keep the healing continuing even after your session is done!

What Should I Do During a Reiki Session?

During the session, just sit back and relax. Adjust yourself as needed.

Here are some tips to make sure you get the best Reiki healing session possible.

  • If you like a particular type of music, ask before the session starts
  • If you are laying down, make sure you are comfortable. Tell the practitioner if you aren’t so they can give you a pillow etc. to help you.
  • If you are shy about being touched, tell your practitioner you prefer not to be. Generally a practitioner will ask before starting, but just in case they don’t, speak up!

What makes my sessions different is that I talk during the session and you can respond only if you feel inclined to do so

How Long Should a Reiki Session Be?

There is not set amount of time one should get. Usually Reiki Sessions are given in ½ HR or 1HR sessions. Some reiki shares only allow 15 minutes per session.

How Many Reiki Session Should I Receive?

This is different from person to person depending on ailments, conditions ETC. I recommend monthly or biweekly sessions, similar to a massage. Some clients do and need weekly sessions. I recommend asking your Reiki practitioner what would be best for you.

What Does Reiki Feel Like?

The sensations and experience one gets from a reiki session varies from person to person. Most feel a deep sense of relaxation a better sense of well belling. Some feel very warm, cozy, calm, and peaceful. Some feel nothing at all and that is ok!

You might feel pins-and-needles, tingling, hot and cold sensations, goosebumps, twitches and chills.

During the session you might cry, have realizations, forgive someone, have visions, get messages, see past lives, feel or see energy/color or again nothing at all, and that’s ok too!

How Will I Feel After a Reiki Session?

You might feel more tired and have an amazing good night sleep as your body adjusts to the energy you received. You might be really hungry or need to go use the restroom directly after a session. Some notice a reduction of pain and/or symptoms right away. Results can last days or weeks.

Difference between Traditional Usui Reiki and Holy Fire Reiki

Traditional Usui Reiki is the original form of reiki started in 1922. Holy Fire Reiki was started by William Lee Rand in 2014. In 2014 William Lee Rand and his students got a vision or “download” on how to upgrade the traditional techniques since the energy of the planet was evolving. There are many similarities between the two, however there are two main differences. In Holy fire Reiki there was an addition of a new master symbol and attunements where replaced with placements (which are only required for those seeking certification). In both techniques, the reiki symbols that are used are still the same.

Which is Better? Traditional Usui Reiki or Holy Fire Reiki?

I have students who are drawn to the traditional techniques and others who are not. Most of my students are drawn to the Holy Fire Reiki. I personally use traditional and Holy Fire techniques in my sessions.  For teaching and certification, I prefer Holy Fire Reiki since it’s an evolved version of the traditional Usui techniques. Truly, one isn’t better than the other because they are so similar!
